Parent company Surya Inc. has announced that 50 iconic Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams upholstered furniture pieces are now available in 200+ configurations for designers to purchase on Surya’s website. The curated offering includes beautifully crafted sofas, sectionals, accent chairs, dining chairs and counter stools, available in select colors and fabrics, manufactured and assembled in North Carolina. The full relaunch of the MG+BW brand, including an enhanced product assortment, is set to follow in the fall.
Production and distribution will resume at the 1-million square-foot footprint of original facilities across Statesville, Hiddenite, and the main factory in Taylorsville in Alexander County – renowned for its community of talented artisans who specialize in crafting high-quality handmade furniture. The decision to return to these roots reaffirms that MG+BW’s core values of craftsmanship and quality will be meticulously restored under Surya Inc.’s stewardship. Many former factory employees will be rehired, underscoring MG+BW’s commitment to both its heritage and the local community.
According to Surya’s Chief Marketing Officer Parvati Tiwari, job applications are now being accepted at the Taylorsville plant.
Josh Lail, Chairman of the Alexander County Board of Commissioners, expressed optimism about Surya’s reopening of the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams factories in Alexander County. “This is great news for our community in terms of job creation and economic growth,” said Lail. “MG+BW has been a cornerstone of our industrial sector for decades, and its revival is a big step toward continued economic growth in Alexander County. We are especially excited that Surya plans to rehire as many of the former employees as possible.”
At the helm of MG+BW operations is industry veteran Darryl Webster who joined the company as Chief Operating Officer earlier this year. Webster has a long history of success in spearheading progressive manufacturing techniques in multiple industries, including leading furniture brands Henredon and Williams Sonoma, Inc.
Mitchell Gold, co-founder of MG+BW, continues to serve as an advisor and has been instrumental in setting the direction for the highly anticipated Fall product lineup. “This brand began with the idea of offering great design and a great experience for designers,” said Gold of MG+BW. “Surya’s strong design ethos perfectly mirrors our original vision, and that’s why I trust they will take the heart of MG+BW and move it forward.”
“We believe that MG+BW’s best days are ahead, and we are excited to steward this beloved brand into a brighter future on our shared foundation of leading design, high-quality craftsmanship and customer-centric service” said Satya Tiwari, president of Surya Inc. “We can’t wait to welcome designers home to the MG+BW brand first with the pre-launch offering, and then fully this Fall.”
The company says this is only the beginning for MG+BW’s long-awaited revival, with much more to come. Designers are invited to open a trade account on surya.com to access the MG+BW pre-launch collection.
