The CVCC Alexander Complex has announced plans for its newest educational initiatives — an Associate in Arts (AA) completion program for Alexander Central Career & College Promise (CCP) students, an Associate in Arts (AA) program for new students, and an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) program in Business Administration. All classes are hybrid, and meet one night per week (at the CVCC Applied Technologies Center – 230 Industrial Boulevard, Taylorsville), with 2-4 courses per eight-week session, with completion in five semesters.
Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration
Learn the various aspects of the free enterprise system. Students will be provided with a fundamental knowledge of business functions, processes, and an understanding of business organizations in today’s global economy. Course work includes business concepts such as accounting, business law, economics, management, and marketing. Skills are developed through the study of computer applications, communication, team building, and decision-making. Graduates are prepared for employment opportunities in government agencies, financial institutions, and large to small businesses or industries. Educational options are Business Administration: AAS and Business Administration: High School Certificate Pathway.
Associate In Arts College Transfer Degree
The Associate in Arts degree shall be granted for a planned program of study consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit (SHC) of college transfer courses. Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA) enable North Carolina community college graduates of two-year Associate in Arts programs who are admitted to constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina and to Signatory Institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities to transfer with junior status. Community college graduates must obtain a grade of “C” or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale to transfer with junior status. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions.
Additionally, two Early Childhood classes will be offered in the fall of 2022 on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:00 p.m. (EDU 144.865 Child Development I and EDU 259.865 Curriculum Planning).
