This episode of the Alexander County EDC’s “Business Spotlight” features Kid at Heart Consignment & Boutique, located at 209 Town Alley in downtown Taylorsville (behind Main Avenue Music).
Store owners Michael and Robin Martin are excited to open a new business in Alexander County, as they saw a need for children’s clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, and more at affordable prices.
The store opened in mid-December 2016, and business has been good thanks to the support of local residents.
For those interested in consignment, you should call and make an appointment to drop off your items. When the item sells, the store receives 50 percent of the sale price. Plus, they sell boutique items.
“Together, we’ve raised six kids, and felt the bite of department store prices,” Michael said. “We noticed there was no store here, and we have always wanted to open our own store.”
As the business grows, the couple plans to expand their offerings. In fact, the store has just started doing vinyl decals and signs.
Robin said, “We have lots of new, good things coming.”
The store is open Tuesday through Saturday. Hours are: Tuesday from 10:30-5:30, Wednesday from 10:30-4:00, Thursday from 11:00-7:00, Friday from 10:30-5:30, and Saturday from 10:30-3:00.
